PERFORMANCE FAQS
- Where can I find info about my child’s performance? Many questions about our upcoming shows can be answered by visiting the Showcase Parent Info page of our website, which will be updated weekly between now and the shows in May. Click here to view!
- Do I need to purchase tickets? Yes! Tickets to all performances are on sale now. Click here to purchase.
- Is my child performing twice?
- Children in Early Childhood (EC) classes and private lessons perform only once.
- All other dancing, singing, and acting classes will perform two times.
- Why are they performing twice? Are parents expected to come twice?
- When theater scheduling allows, we present each production twice because repetition deepens learning rather than simply duplicating the experience.
- The first performance helps students manage nerves, apply preparation, and experience sharing their work with an audience.
- By the second performance, students often show greater confidence, stronger stage presence, and deeper artistic connection.
- Research shows repetition strengthens long-term memory, technical skill, and creative expression.
- A second performance also reinforces confidence, resilience, communication, and emotional growth—making it an important continuation of the learning process.
- Performing twice also gives parents an opportunity to watch one show from the audience, and during the second show volunteer backstage to share that experience with their child.
THE IMPORTANCE OF ATTENDANCE
While students should stay home when sick, otherwise regular attendance is essential as teachers carefully scaffold lessons to develop proper technique and terminology so students can progress safely, confidently, and as a team. Missing classes causes the individual student to fall behind, while slowing progress for the entire group of students who depending on one another.
If your child will miss class, please submit their absence via the Parent Portal, by clicking here. They are welcome to make-up the class by attending any other Seaside class they are eligible for age-wise. Please note that excessive absences may result in a reduction of parts in the Spring performances.
SPRING SHOWCASE NEW FORMAT
Due to Seaside’s continued growth, we are introducing a new performance format, grouping all musical theater based classes into one set of performances, and separating out our Early Childhood, Private Lesson, and Dance Classes into their own performances. While this means additional performances for some students, it will allow all students to be better featured on stage, reduce the length of each show, and allow for a better showcase experience for all students and families. Unless otherwise noted, all events below will take place at the Grand | Ritz Theater in Escondido.
