At this week-long summer camp, students will engage in learning around Shakespeare scenes, monologues, and court dances, particularly from As You Like It and A Midsummer’s Night Dream. Students will explore the timeless themes of identity, community, love, and freedom, while not only interpreting the Shakespearean works and Elizabethan dances, but also exploring these themes in relation to today. These works were chosen because they relate directly to themes young adolescents are grappling with as they come of age, discover who they are, and form their identity and find community. The themes of these works also bridge cultural and generational divides, and are still relevant today.
